Iphone just went into recovery whilst browsing web

Last night I was just browsing the web on my (2G) iphone and it crashed, I then just held the sleep and home button like you usually do in order to reboot the phone but now it's gone into recovery mode and it's infinitely rebooting going into restore mode.

I've googled around and I've tried using ibrickr but it ends up with a green screen. If I select restore it wants to upgrade to the latest firmware too.

Surely there must be another way in? If not, I've lost a crap load of valuable data

Download the 1.1.4 firmware and option or control click on restore and it will ask for the file location, select 1.1.4 and job done.

I didn't realise that it's possible to select a location for an update. I'll have a gander.

I guess its unlocked + jailbraked?

It seems I can't manually choose the firmware, if I want to restore, I have to update to 2.0

Any ideas?

All sorted now, I was trying the ctrl + restore you suggested which didn't work, I then tried shift + restore which worked, I'm sure that's what you meant

Quite ridiculous though, I was just browsing the web and it killed itself, Tardphone
