OK so in short, I use a personal iPhone for work as well as personal use. I dont like having passcodes on my phone. However by having my work exchange email account, it forces a passcode to be used (as in, the passcode to access the phone once its locked). The IT guy refuses to disable this, so I'm assuming its something he controls as part of the work email exchange server.

Is there a workaround so I can have work email on my phone but not have a passcode lock screen?

Pretty sure it'll be one or the other. Get another phone just for work? And I'd recommend using a passcode, even if you set it for a long time before it locks. Lose your phone and anyone and everyone will have access. That's why your work insist on a lock code so their email is secure.

All fair points, but still... ;)

It is a works policy and as such they will not change it. I used to have my work emails on both my work phone and my personal ipad. When this was introduced I removed it from my iphone and got work to change my work phone to one with a fingerprint reader, so I could unlock it with my thumb rather than constantly having to enter my passcode.

Yeah, an iPhone with fingerprint reader solves that problem BEAUTIFULLY.
