hi,
my iPhone 3GS has been connected to my employers Microsoft Exchange server successfully for the last few months.

However, I may need to come off the server soon, and I don't want to lose all the contacts I have. What is the best way to ensure I don't lose all this data from my contacts list please??

I believe all data will be deleted if the server connection is cut, and I can't see how to save the data to another part of the iPhones sim or hardware?

Appreciate your assistance guys.
Thanks,
Xstyle

Your contacts will be on your exchange account so if you start up outlook you'll see them there. What you can do is install iTunes on your work machine and then sync all the contacts over (if you're allowed to).

can't install iTunes on work pc.
I can load up my work desktop at home via Citrix, but the 2 systems stay separate ; home / work, and I can switch between them with tabs.

The only other thing I have done is select and copy all contacts from Outlook and paste into Excel. So, without typing them all manually into my phone after I have disabled the MS exchange, I want to know if there's any other way?

On your work PC, export your contacts list to a file.

Take that file to your home PC, import the contacts to outlook there (or outlook express/live mail).

Select that address book as your contacts to sync in itunes.

Enjoy :)

ok, I have just downloaded iTunes to home PC (for first time).

I have Hotmail and GoogleMail emails. Have not set up Outlook Express at home ... is it best if I do this so that my work and home Outlook are the same / sync'd?

I am a novice to iTunes!

EDIT: just googled this:
http://email.about.com/od/outlooktips/qt/Export_Outlook_Contacts_to_CSV.htm

I know how to do it now! :)
Can import in Hotmail too.

Next step will be syncing to iPhone!!?

OK... now a different type of question.

What do I do if I want to use Microsoft Exchange with a work system?
I'd need to delete the GoogleMail a/c and set that up as a normal email a/c (as I had before).
And then set up the M.Exchange for the work system.

BUT, question is ... is there a way of keeping the calendar and contacts sync'd with personal and work together?

I dont want to keep moving outlook calendar and contacts if I change jobs or any other reason.

Hope that makes sense!?

i tunes has backed up contacts, so i can get rid of the google contacts if i want... at the moment have both on th iphone which caused some confusion at first!!

ITunes is so awesome!! more than just music!

THANKS guys!
