Hi guys,

Having never owned an iPhone before, or really thought about it when poking around a mate's one. Do the iPhone's have network specific branding on the software side of things?

It's just that with every Orange phone i've had in the past, they seem to have their own horrible menu system and branding on the phone itself. Rather than the manufacturers.

If so, how do you get rid of it?

Cheers in advance :)

no branding, all phone's have the same OS given by apple

one of the best things about the iphone imo.

an OS designed to work with all of the carriers at once, rather than allowing the vendors to mess around with it and put their own hidden settings etc.. in it.

Hmm I thought there was a few. My mates 3GS on O2 has a program for voice mails, my 3GS you have to phone into the Orange number??

That's called visual voicemail and is part of the carrier bundle, about the only thing the network can customise on the phone. The carrier bundle contains the network logos and all of the configuration settings for things like data, MMS, support links, tethering and visual voicemail. Also this carrier bundle is managed by Apple and shipped with the iPhone firmware so the carrier has to go via Apple if they want something changed.
