What used to be a UK
Crikey! I ordered an 8 gig Iphone which was in stock and they did the usual credit check and I failed. I haven't taken the failure too seriously as I have just moved in to a different address. I have only just started using the credit cards over the last three months and so I really don't have that much of a credit history. I don't have any defaults with payments either. The thing is O2wanted a £300 deposit for the order to go ahead. Now bear in mind I had ordered this 8 gig Iphone which was due to arrive Friday and I had just agreed to pay the refundable deposit only then to be told that the model I had ordered was no longer in Stock. The situation is absolutely crazy.

If I reorder could I avoid paying the £300 upfront by using the Mrs details (with her permission) and then after the initial payment make the repayments for the contract from my own account.

in short. no you cant do that. the card for the monthly charge would have to be in the same name as the one which was used to order the phone.

the reason for this is that the credit check is done for your mrs and not you. so they wont let you change the monthly payments to your card.

I imagine they would if I offered a deposit similar to the requested one. It was just that I didn't like the idea of my money just hanging around in their account for six months. I am a little peeved they wanted the £300 though as opposed to something a bit more reasonable. Saying that I would be forced to accept the downpayment or otherwise when it comes to renewing or taking out another contract I am likely to be in the same boat. Thanks for the input.
