iPhone not playing songs

A fairly simple problem to explain but I can't seem to understand what's wrong. To put it simply, my MacBook will play all of my songs but when I sync my iTunes library with my iPhone, my iPhone isn't playing certain songs, well actually, it's playing them but there's no sound. If you use the high speed scrubbing to skip really fast through the track you'll sometimes hear a tiny bit of the song at high speed but then when you go back and play it from the point where you heard the noise it resumes to play a completely silent track.

This is only affecting 2 tracks and they are both tracks that I've purchased from the iTunes store. All of my other tracks in my iTunes library were ripped from CD's and they play fine on my iPhone. Just to reiterate, the songs all play fine on my MacBook but not on the iPhone. I've had a look on the net and all I can find is information on songs that simply refuse to play and skip straight to the next track, I don't get this, I get a song playing silence.

I've tried syncing the iPhone with the iTunes library and I've also tried turning off the convert higher bit rate songs to AAC in case there was a problem during the conversion but again, the same song refuses to play on my iPhone. I haven't tried restoring my iPhone yet as I don't want to go through the hassle if it's avoidable. I've tried de-authorizing and then re-authorizing my iTunes account as per instructions I read on Apple's support pages but I still haven't managed to get the song producing any sound through my iPhone.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
