Just had a text from O2:

So I put my work phone's Vodafone SIM card in, and connected it to iTunes. After a short while, the following screen appeared:

And it activated the phone with the new SIM card inside it.

Definitely all working!

Am I right to assume that all your apps, songs, photos etc are unaffected? Only the service provider and contacts (what ever are in the 'new' SIM card) are different from the original set-up?

Yes, of course - but the contacts don't change as the iPhone doesn't store contacts on the SIM card (it can import them into the phone memory though).

Cheers.

Would this works for a foriegn service provider (SIM) when you're in that country?

Will just have to wait until my text from O2 arrive!

So once it is unlocked can you pop any sim into it or do you need to do the connect to iTunes every time?

I'm not sure, I'll try it with a different Vodafone SIM when my partner gets home from work later on and report back.

Is it easy enough to put in the 3G details from another network? I've been gagging to leave O2's shoddy 3G for ages!! Just applied for the unlock!

I would also like to know whether you can swap sims out anytime after its been unlocked, or does it need reactivation via itunes each time?

Asked for my unlock as well but not heard anything from O2 yet....
