Hi Guys

I have an unlocked iphone with a simplicty contract, how do i go about enabling edge settings on the 1.1.4 firmware?

Also what settings should i be using, Im finding drabs of info on the net and such but nothing concrete.

The sticky guide only has info for the 1.1.4 firmware and pay as you go users.

Im on a pc btw cheers

I don't think you need to do anything. Your iphone will detect that you are using an O2 sim, hence it will hide the "EDGE" menu and use the default contract settings. These should be okay for you. The reason pay&go users have a problem is that the settings are different for them and EDGE is not available.

Cheers

Your speeds seem okay to me. The problem then is not with EDGE but with utube. What method did you use to unlock your phone, as I thought all the latest ones included the utube fix? Give google a bash, but search for "utube iphone fix", you should get something. I have a link at home to the fix I used, I'll post it up once I leave work.

You only lose the video mail feature as far as im aware.

That sounds like a very good deal then if you don't mind unlocking & jailbreaking the phone. So you can get O2 Simplicity Online 25 with the Unlimited Web Bolt On which will give you 1000 texts, 600 minutes, unlimited browsing and no contract period (30 days), is that correct?

Exactly what i have signed up for :D

But if you havent got one of the cheap £169 phones already, good luck finding one :( their out of stock all over the place now. Got the last one for my better half the other day.

On the topic of O2's Simplicity contract, is their Online 25 tariff changed to web bolt on, the cheapest "unlimited" Internet access tariff with EDGE available to purchase? :o

There's the Online 15 tariff if you include the web bolt on which is £2.50 cheaper compared to the Online 25 tariff. However you loose more than double minutes and texts which isn't worth it paying £2.50 less :(

I've been looking at O2's PAYG SIM cards but they don't offer EDGE :(
