Hi all,
I've done a bit of reading on the subject of iPhone as my missus is coming to the end of her T-Mobile Contract, and has decided that although she likes the iPhone, it's more than she wanted to pay...
I've been doing some looking into it, and I've found new iPhones with a BIN of £240ish inc P&P, which is a decent start, as this could be combined with the O2 Simplicity Online 25, and changing the free bolt on to free web.
The trouble is I've read a lot of conflicting stuff on the subject, not least because it seems everything keeps changing with new releases of firmware etc. I keep picking up little tit-bits of info, but I just want to make sure I'm taking everything in context, and not reading what I want to read, rather than what is actually on the page.
Can I:-
If the above can be done, I'd have an iPhone for £169, without a contract, paying £25 a month for 600 minutes, 1000 texts, and unlimited data?
Is the above correct, or am I wildly off the mark?

Can I:-
- Walk into 02 or CPW, pay £169 for an iPhone, without an existing 02 contract, and walk out with said iPhone, effectively without a contract as that only comes into effect if I do some activation type stuff.
- Update it to firmware 1.1.4, without activating.
- Jailbreak it, meaning I can put any sim card in it.
- Sign up to O2 Simplicity, insert SIM.
- Configure EDGE?
- ??
- Profit!
