any idea how to turn of just the email for googlemail within the outlook app please.

thank you

I've banned this app on our works Exchange server as it's a massive security risk. I haven't got it installed anymore but I seem to recall an option in the settings where you choose which email accounts run in the app?

The app itself doesn't connect to your work's Exchange server. What it does is feed your work credentials to Microsoft, whose servers then access the emails on your behalf. They are then read for metadata and then fed back to your app. This is in contrast to the native Mail.app where the phone itself makes the connection directly.

When I looked at blocked devices on our Exchange server, I see the "DeviceOS" reporting as "Outlook for iOS and Android" rather than the usual "iOS 9.0.2" as my phone using the native Mail app does. When the app was first released there was a bit of an uproar around the security and our management took the decision to block this app after I explained it to them. We force password changes if a staff member still tries to add their work account to the app despite being told not to shortly after it's initial release.

Why does that in itself make it a security risk?
Are you implying Microsoft keep a copy of all the emails?

It seems to upload you username and password to MS. Outlook for ios is banned in our organization as well.

I suppose it does depend on the type of organisation, but having read up on it a bit, seems it isn't actually as bad as that, given the way the details are stored and accessed/requested.

Interesting thought though, does the email within Windows Phones work the same then, or is that designed to communicate direct to the Exchange server?
