I just read this on endagdet: http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/03/iphone-overheats-while-docked-fight-for-replacement-begins

Is it me or wasn't there a post on these forums a couple of days ago with exactly the same story? I'm sure it was because people were flaming the guy for not being bothered to go upstairs in a Carphone Warehous store to the Apple store. I can't find it now but I'm sure someone did, was just curious if it was the same story?

Reminds me of the guy who posted to engadget saying he had put a Wiimote through his huge plasma screen, looking for donations to get a new one. Turned out it was just a picture of a broken screen being displayed on his plasma, he got busted because the picture was a little too famous on the Internet.

Good to know I'm not going crazy either, It was a member of these forums that posted it as his own story and I definitely remember people flaming him about trying to get the Carphone Warehouse refund him rather than taking it to the manufacturer (Apple). I assume that thread was deleted/locked/closed or something, sounds like the exact same story to me.

It was definately a thread about it, something like CPW suck. I posted in it saying TTIUWP but it is now gone.

Maybe the dons should have done a delete but left the placeholder for the post rather than vanish it?

Ach well we know it was done anyway. When i first seen the story on engadget i thought it was referencing here lol

Yeah, I was half expecting a link to these forums in their post, I'm guessing one of the mods must know because the thread was obviously removed or something.

I had the thread deleted as it was a rather dodgy story. We'd rather not have OcUK dragged into it.

Fair enough, it all sounded a bit far fetched to begin with. Now the plot thickens.

Good call J, lets not get OCUK involved in this type of trouble.
