I went to the Bluewater o2 store today to get an iPhone. Three things:

I would have had to pay for the phone
The contract would have been more monthly than I'm paying now
I've been with o2 for about 5 years.

Now, the guy at the store checked my number and said I wasn't eligable for an upgrade and would either have to buy the phone outright (about £300 - no way) or wait until I was due an upgrade.

Is this right? I can't get myself a new iPhone (keeping my number) until my upgrade is due?

Thanks.

Yeah,

As far as i know they offered people who hadnt upgraded for too long to move to an iphone with no fee, but that was original iphone, i have since upgraded again to 3g but it seems only people on original can upgrade to the 3g now,

No direct route from a normal contract to 3g as far as i know!

The offer for current original iPhone owners have until 11th October to upgrade for £99 if on £35 tariff and free for the rest. Its a shame O2 suck and you have to sign a new 18 month contract.
