iphone & push email through gmail account

Hi guys,

I have my gmail account setup on my iphone but i don't seem to be getting emails as they are sent, i have to go into to my inbox and then it checks? Can anyone advise as to how to activate push?

Go to Settings > Fetch new data and choose how often you want the phone to check for updates. Its called 'push', but its really just scheduled / periodic 'pull'

Unfortunately GMail doesn't currently support push so you are going to have to rely on using fetch as posted above.

Last I heard Google were looking into implementing push for GMail, but I've no idea if they still are and when it is likely to be released if so.
