So, my iPhone 3GS has gone - fell out of a pocket and never to be seen again. Insurance said it was worth £369 so that's what I'm getting.

Problem now is what to do next. That phone was almost out of contract, so I can get pretty much anything, but in truth I was perfectly happy with the 3GS - it did almost everything I wanted.

I've considered the SGSII briefly, but I'm partially sighted, and iOS rules the roost when it comes to accessibility options (it seems that Android has 'optional' TTS and that's about it - vs. iOS's global TTS, zoom, font size options and more). I'd manage with Android, like I did every prior phone, but why should I have to?

Problem is I don't really want to be blowing money on another 3GS, or 4, if the 4S/5 is just around the corner. But I don't know if it is just around the corner - just look how long it took for the white 4 to happen.

Help! :(

3GSs have lost a lot of value recently, you could get one and have money to spare from £369 if you get one off AVForums or somewhere that's been kept mint. If you were happy with the 3GS, just keep on with it. Absolute worst case scenario = now new iPhone till June. Annoying scenario = late 2011, early 2012. Rumour mill scenario = Sept/Oct.

I'm going to side with MikeHunt and say a used iP4 - but then if the iP5/4S/4GS etc. is right around the corner i'm going to look a right pillock.

Not sure about WP7. I know it's like comparing iOS with Symbian, but my last experience with Windows on a phone (WM5) just about put me off for life. I'm currently being well reminded just what that was like. I so miss having a capacitive touchscreen.

Oh my good the SGSII is nice, but then again it's the iPhone4 that's going to ISS next month and the Geek in me wants that to be a big brownie point. :)

My friend has the HTC Trophy running WP7. Really great mobile OS, the Mango update planned for it will make it a serious competitor before long just needs a while for their app marketplace to catch up (the good thing is that it's by far the easiest OS to code for).

This is coming from an iPhone 4 owner though.
