Got a friend going Florida next week and they asked if I wanted anything while she is out there.

So... Is it possible to bring back an Iphone from USA and jailbreak etc?

Just upgrade it to the latest when you get it (1.1.4) as that will give the best results when unlocked.

No, firmware is the same in all countries.

Update to the latest (1.1.4) if it's running anything lower, and follow the unlock guide

You buy the phone without a contract. It's the same in every country.

The contact-subscription is handled in iTunes, and is part of the reason unlocking is so rife.
