iPhone recording location data

naughty apple, wonder why they done this ?

Read the above quotes or follow the link to the article. It's nothing new. It's part of how the multitasking works. They have to store your location data somewhere.

Strange. I just loaded the program, selected the backup but it's not showing any data on the map

EDIT: Forget that, it's showing now

Remarkably accurate, well impressed.

I believe it only takes the data from backups stored on your computer, not directly from your phone. At least it did with me.

Regarding privacy issues, this data is stored no differently to text messages (for example), which also aren't sent to Apple. I don't see a problem tbh.

Wasn't suprised in the slightest when I heard about this. In this day and age almost everything is monitored, it leaves a trail and can be tracked. I wouldn't be suprised if Apple has a database with a snapshot of each iphone 4 owner taken secretly from the facing camera on the handset.

Done mine last night
Unless I have been to leeds, Aberdeen, and Manchester without knowing this info is wrong
Also
If you would feel better not being tracked there is a deamon in cydia called " untracked " that clears the history so your log is never updated with locations

I've never owned anything Apple and this just made sure i never will, i was about to buy my gf an iphone as a graduation present but i think i'll get her a Glaxay S now

this won't save you

as was posted in the other thread about this. This is common place. Your telephone company already keeps a record about all the locations your phone connects to the network.

Look what happened when a german politician used the freedom of information act to get Deutsche telecom to release the info to him :
