My mum's 3GS has stopped picking up network signal for some reason. It just says searching the whole time. Everything else works fine about the phone (wifi etc.) and the SIM card works fine in a different handset in the same place.
The phone was originally on contract from O2. But is now out of contract (as of about 3 months ago).
I went in to the apple store and they said that a genius appointment was necessary to assess the problem, which isn't very easy as mum doesn't live near one.
But am I rot in thinking that if an iPhone is broken, there is a standard charge (£120?) for an exchange to a refurbished handset? So all she needs to do is go to an aple store with a genius appointment and say "it's broke" and they'll give her a refurb?
