So as you may have seen in Feek's "I dropped my iPhone" thread, Ive also dropped mine, however I wasn't so lucky and the screen is mashed, it still works under all the shattered glass but looks very poorly, its just seems to be cosmetic damage. I was wondering what the best procedure is to get it fixed. Its an 8GB 3G.
Obviously being a clumsy idiot and smashing your phone isn't covered under warranty, Ive phoned the household insurance people up to see if I can claim under that, however they want to know how much it would cost to get it repaired (the excess would be £75 regardless). A guy at work whose daughter works for O2 says that they send the phones back to Apple who cant be bothered repairing them and replace the phone for a fixed fee of approx £140. Whether this is true or not I have no idea. What other options is there out there, will independent phone shops be worth looking into or will they not have Apple spare parts?
Once I get it repaired its going to be sold, so Id much prefer it being done properly and claim on the insurance and get back some cash from the sale of the repaired/replaced phone.
Any idea chaps? Thanks in advance.
