iPhone restores without my apps

I got a replacement iPhone 4 today as the lock button jammed.

I restored the phone from a back up from Monday, all went fine apart from almost all of my apps are missing.

I tried an older back-up from last month but its the same.

Anyone had this?

If I start a fresh (as a new phone without restore) is there an easy way to get my contacts back on?

Sounds like you didn't back up your apps...

You'll probably have to manually download all your apps again but won't have to pay for them

Panic over, it finally did it after many attempts. Maybe to do with the 4.3 update. Or just my iTunes, it's been a total pig tonight, constant lock ups.
