Following on from my thread yesterday, it seems I need to return my Iphone to an Apple store.

The nearest one to me if Sheffield (about an hour away) so I don't want to be driving all that way for no luck.

My problem here is many have said to just 'restore' the Iphone. Only problem is how can I show the problem of the camera being faulty if it's restored to out the box settings? It's a US Iphone which was originally locked to AT&T, so all you'll get is that activation screen.

Also, when I do restore it, do I need to use that bootneut or whatever it's called to restore the bootloader to 4.6? as Ziphone dowgrades it to 3.9. Or is this restored within Itunes by clicking the restore button?

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Use bootneuter first, and then restore in itunes.

Doesn't matter that it's AT&T, i expect Apple will sent it away to get it fixed. So being in bootloader 4.6 is the most important part.

Purchased around the 11th March, came with 1.14 firmware out the box so I assume it will be bootloader 4.6. Think i'll get it restored and take it back to store this weekend. How do I actually prove the camera is faulty though? Just print out the pictures from my other thread?

Cheers, Craig

Sounds like a good plan.. or copy some samples onto a memory stick to take with you. Just let them know it's intermittent.

**Update**

Just got back from Meadowhall.

Checked the box and immediately said they can't service a U.S Iphone apparently as it's obvious it's been unlocked for use here. Been briefed recently about it.

:( Can't say i'm surprised really.

Bummer.. do you know anyone in the states that could take it back for you? It would be interesting to read the warranty document you got with the phone.

Unfortunately not mate. God knows what i'm going to do.

Unlocking it again now with liberty plus, maybe stick it on ebay or something?

If your camera is important you could stick it on ebay with a decent reserve on it and see how it goes.. although you might struggle to get a replacement if stocks are as thin as reported.

Cheers chaps. Probably going to have to do that.

Unless there is some kind soul on here from the states who would like to do me a (huge) favour ;)

Damn if only I had seen this thread earlier to save you the trip... I was in an Apple store yesterday and there was indeed several signs out saying they will only deal with UK purchased iPhones:(
