iPhone Ringtone Problem

I have a problem with iPhone ringtones and wonder if anyone else has it;

I use a custom ringtone (<30 secs, 256kbps .m4r file) from Audiko.net and it has always worked until yesterday. I tried to use the new feature of converting any songs >128kbps to an ACC file of 128kbps. It worked great, freeing up loads of space for more songs/photos/apps/vids but it stopped my custom ringtone working! It was on the computer, on the iPhone (in the ringtone folder under devices) but not in the Sound settings menu. I removed the conversion checkbox, re-synced and it was back again. I can only assume they forgot to stop any ringtones being convered to a .m4a from a .m4r?

What is odd is I thought I would try purchasing a ringtone to see if this worked and it was fine, but any ringtones I created (Garageband etc.) wouldn't work. I am not sure if there is a distinction made between purchased and custom ringtones?

I have a "case" open with Apple Care but they hadn't heard of the issue. If anyone else has a free 1/2 hour and wants to try and replicate this I would be interested to know if I am the only one.

Yes, it's a bug with iTunes 9.1. AppleCare won't know or care about it because it's not a fault with the device so you should bug report it to Apple. There are a number of threads on the Apple support forums about this.
