Hello,

If I have a pay monthly O2 SIM can I buy an iPhone from the Carphonewarehouse and just use that? I'm stuck in an 18 month contract so I cannot make a new one. I'd prefer just to transfer my SIM.

Ok thanks. I thought because it was an O2 sim I wouldn't need to unlock it. Oh well, looks like I've got unlocking research to do.

you will probably need to get the web bolt on aswell to get the most out of the EGDE, so web browsing on the move :)

That's exactly my plan :)

I'm currently on an 18th month contract with a free k850i but I never use the camera. When I go out the girls in the group usually bring theres and take lots of pics.

So I was going to sell my k850i and ipod touch then just go down to the Carphonewarehouse and buy a nice shiney iphone. I don't use my ipod touch that much but it's probably because I don't have internet access everywhere and didn't want to pay the extra for a mail client, etc.

The sticky is great. Unlocking looks like it couldn't be easier. Do you lose out on any features though? I remember with early unlocks sms conversations didn't work correctly or something along those lines.

Do they still have problems?

The only feature you loose is Visual Voicemail which is an 02 iPhone service. Not a terrible loss and is something you can live without!

You actually gain features through third party apps. :)

Visual Voicemail, that was it. I've been looking through the apps. ApolloIM is one of the first I'll be downloading. After BSD Subsystem.

Sorry to turn this in to a more Q&A thread but how long do you usually get with battery life? I don't leave wifi, bluetooth, etc on my current phone/ipod touch unless I'm using them so that should hopefully boost battery life.

In regards to 3G, after reading the AT&T Germany thread I don't think it will be here before August so it would be a waste to wait. It'll take a month or two for that to be unlocked too.

Apollo IM is good, there is loads of apps that you will find that you can't live without!

Battery life is very good, depends on how much usage but mine can run for ages on a charge, couple of days in some cases. I just charge it while I sleep.

3G will most likely be around at the end of the year, there is no point holding out for it and a crack will also delay getting your hands on it. 3G may hit battery life so may not prove to be as popular as planned.

Guys my Orange contract is up soon..

I'm thinking of signing to O2 and getting a 8gb N95 then selling it and getting an iphone - Is there a tariff I could get along with the Nokia that would then suit the iphone or is it a case of getting bolts on's?

Also am I right in saying I'd still have to jailbreak it even though I have an O2 sim??

I tried to follow a stick link from above but the link is dead?

Cheers guys

You can either get the N95 and sell it or get an 02 simplicity which doesn't come with a handset and is great value for money.

You would have to jailbreak, activate and unlock it. Its a very simple process.

The link above has moved and can be accessed HERE, just use the link on the right hand side for unlocking information.

Drop me a mail if you have any further questions and I can guide you through the unlock process if you want. :)

Hi iSam that link is also dead?

Reason behind getting a handset and flogging it as this is the only way I can afford an iPhone :)

Thanks for the tips and I may take you up on that offer of help in a few week :D
