Was just reading something about an iphone update that allowed multiple text recipients etc. How does this work with unlocked iphones? If i were to update would it reset my phone to at&t? If so how would this work for people in france or germany who have access to pre unlocked iphones, that mean they can't update either?

You are referring to the new iPhone 1.1.3 firmware.

If you have a jailbroken iPhone (e.g. Using your own SIM on the same network) and performed an update it would relock the phone, all your apps would stay, but they'd either be broken or unusable.

If you have an unlocked iPhone (e.g. Using a USA iPhone in the UK) then it would most likely brick the phone, and is NOT recommended.

The customers who bought an unlocked iPhone in France & Germany have had their phone "truly" unlocked by Apple. In other words, the IMEI number has been used to generate a proper unlock code and will continue to work regardless of firmware.

Oh yeah, definitely stuff in the works, the devs have had the 1.1.3 firmware since the beginning of January as one of them got hold of a leaked version.

Just a matter of waiting :)

If you've jailbroken the phone there is an SMS app that allows you to send to multiple people anyway.

There is now a hardware unlock for 1.1.2, so you can use any sim card in it, although it involves taking apart your iPhone.

Yeah the PAC came this morning. Still have to wait a few working days so I have a temporary number at the moment which is a bit annoying but no biggie in the long run.

So far so good with the phone. EDGE isn't as slow as I expected it to be. :)
