Iphone upgrade on new pc?

alright guys, i have the first gen iphone and im going to update the firmware (2.21 to latest), which i havent done for a while. i am on my new pc so my itunes library hasnt got all my apps music etc, If i upgrade will i lose all my Apps and settings ?

can you sync it the other way from Iphone to pc if you get me, ha

If you've not ticked any boxes to specifically replace/sync your apps/music in iTunes, it should leave that alone, and just upgrade your iPhone.

ok ill try that, but what if say i want to add a new song and click sync then will it wipe out all my stuff and just add that one song?

I have a similar problem as I've got a new laptop with Windows 7 & didn't backup itunes properly! I don't really want to spend any more money on software such as musicrescue but am afraid to add new music to my itouch! It's very annoying that Apple don't let you download any tunes etc bought from their store to a new machine. When you buy a CD you get to keep it!

Music Rescue's shareware, if you pay a tenner it'll do all your music without nag alerts, but even in free mode it'll do it, it just nags to buy every fifty songs. You just ok it and it carries on

Cheers PardonTheWait, but now you make me feel guilty if I use it without paying!

I hope it works in Windows 7.

I certainly won't be paying Apple for any more tunes!

The nags are built like that on purpose... basically if you can put up with them, you can use it for free, if you use it enough that they actually drive you insane you should probably pay for it, and you probably will

Hopefully I'll only need to use it this time. I don't plan on buying a new laptop for a long time. However, musicrescue doesn't appear to be working in Windows 7 or I need to watch the tutorial more carefully.

PardonTheWait, many thanks. Sharepod works great & is completely free! I think that they've very recently updated it. I've managed to copy over all of my music.
