iPhone wireless password

Is it just me or will the iPhone not let you input a wireless password less than 8 characters? Trying to join a network that has a 7 character password and the join button does not light up until I add an 8th character.

But the point is that WPA allows less than 8 on routers - the SKY routers come with a default WPA password of 7 for example - and I know some places like hot spots have a short password. I hope they fix this in an upcoming update as it's not possible to ask everyone to change their wireless security just for me!
