iPhone worth it?

Is the iPhone worth having without the o2 contract? I know the o2 contracts come with the unlimited data, but with my contract it would cost me a fortune to do that stuff so i just wouldn't bother.

Would i be missing out?

You wont be missing out. If you don't want the o2 contract then unlock it and use something else. Really easy to do.

i do quite like it for checking email on the go. the visual voicemail really isnt that big a deal for me so I can do without it. Checking webpages on edge and gprs is hit-and-miss, really depends on what your reception is like.

but overall as a phone and ipod its great. Not so good with sms and mms though. depends on how you use your phone really.

Im just a sucker for shiny stuff, every time i pass an o2 store i keep drooling. I really want one, but im worried that if i dont have the o2 contact i wont be getting the "iphone" experience as it were.

I take it you guys dont think its the case.

now that you can crack even the newest ones, the only thing you really miss out on is visual voicemail. everything else would be the same. if you do want to do browsing/downloading whilst you are on the move just make sure you have a good data plan.

I don't think my contract has any data as part of it. Shame i haven't had my current phone for long. I may wait for a while then get one.

So is it possible to use a tmobile sim with the iphone??. Reason i ask is because when the 3g model hits the market...ill be looking to get one only if i can use my tmobile sim with it...i get unlimited web surfing with my tmobile sim so its quite handy. I do a lot of internet surfing on my n95 8gb phone but the screen is kinda small whereas the iphone looks just about perfect...probably because im using the ipod touch to type this message out and i absolutely love the browsing capability on it.

yep, T-Mob works fine. Posting this from my iPhone on T-Mob WnW right now. Really glad the latest unlock came out when it did as my tmob contract only costs me £12.50 now, as I didn't take a new phone from them on renewal.
