Hello,
recently, my iPhone X (which has a shockproof case and tempered glass screen protector) fell and the exterior of the phone was fine, however, it went from ~90% battery to 0% right after the fall and a few seconds later it died. after charging it for a little bit, it can't go anywhere above 0% and after a few seconds, it dies. the battery health couldn't be verified and so instead of showing 100% like it did before the fall, it now shows an em dash. help will be appreciated

We'll never know at what age with humans it changes from falling over to a fall, but now we know with an iPhone X it's around 7 years and 6 months.

Sorry, can't be much help. Likely something inside has dislodged, I'd take it to an Apple Store or service provider.

Have a look at Reddit and the iFixit page and see if there is anything around this issue and if it can be repaired but it would appear that your phone has motherboard damage. RIP.
