Just a simple question as I know any further discussion might break the rules:

I've got an iphone4 on 02 and was wondering if a jailbreak unlocks it to all networks or does this need to be done with an unlock code?

Jailbreaking in of itself doesn't unlock the phone for other networks, but it is generally required as the first step before you can run software that _does_ unlock your phone to other networks (ultrasn0w etc). I'm not familiar with the current state of affairs with regard to which software versions can currently be unlocked however I just thought I'd point out that if it's a contract phone O2 will unlock it for you for free:

I have a spare 02 sim, so I should just top up £15 on there and complete the form. Would it fully unlock it so I can use it in other countries? E.g. India/Kenya/Mombasa ?

Yes

an unlock from the Carrier Who locked it will unlock the phone forever, at a hardware level. So it can be used anywhere by any carrier.

(this is assuming of course it was locked to O2 when you bought it ? )

Yeah it was locked to 02 when I bought it. I filled out the unlock request form last night after a £15 top-up and they told me I should hear back within 14 days.

done my request on sunday, got a text this morning saying its unlocked
is there anyway to find out its unlocked ( dont have another sim from 3 arriving till monday ) O2 unlocked it for me

they say 14 days but it never does. Its usually next day or thereabouts.

Don't worry. Its unlocked.
