iPhone4 water damage

Yes that old chestnut. Not actually water but baby dribble! I think it has got in the power button/mic hole and caused the phone to switch off.

Tried the usual, rice, warm place, left it for ages. Just can't get it to turn on or to get into recovery mode.

Completely dead. Anything else I can try before getting the screw driver out? Not fussed really about the phone, my wife wants pictures, notes, etc off it though.

She never listened to me when I told her to regular back it up :mad:
 
contact cleaner/IPA to clean the power switch? I've managed to short the pins inside the iphone to power one on, but I can't remember which ones they where.
 
replace it yourself, easy enough job, takes about an hour. ifixit has a guide you can follow and the parts can be bought for £6 on the well known auction site.
