I’m wondering (and what better place to ask) why Iphone4s users like their Iphone over Android devices? Is it the case you've always been iphone users and just love the phone/os and never used an android device? Or maybe you’ve used/had or indeed have both? And if you have both, which one do you use the most; do you favour one over the other?

Thanks.

For me, I don't think any thing really compares to iOS. I find android a bit clunky at times and not as responsive or Intuitive as iOS. Although with android you have a lot more scope for tweaking, editing etc none of that concerns me any more. Maybe I'm just getting old! I just want a device that works and keeps on working, the 4s does this for me.

Not to mention the infrastructure which Apple have, so iCloud, iTunes, Apps store - All are the best out there.

I've been an android user since 1.6 right through to 4.0.4, ICS was a big disappointment for me and I decided to opt for a simpler phone with a better user experience, I was concerned initally with the 3.5" screen on the 4S being far smaller than my SGS 2 but it's fine, my thumb can actually reach the entire screen meaning I can use it one handed.

The only thing I'll miss is the SGS 2 (still) camera, still the best one I've used on a phone by a long way.

Android > iPhone 4s.

Did it for iTunes Match and music production/apps. Still find some things in iOS as dumb as a box of frogs (no trace keyboard for example), but struggle when I need to fix something on the wife's Nexus S (was mine) she's using now.

ICS is starting to get there, but I'd find it hard to go back to being an Android zealot now after getting stuck into Match.

Well thank you for the replies, much appreciated.

I got rid of my Iphone for the Galaxy SII last year, while the GsII is a great phone, I always kind of missed the iphone.

Just off the phone and ordered the 4s, so looks like I'm coming back and the iphones do have great resale value....so.

Thanks again.

Hello
I also recently bought a 4S and before i had an old "brick" nokia for 5 years and i find the phone and itunes fairly good as i can transfer just about any video from my PC onto the iphone using a converter tool and im not sure about android but i do know that all **** chinese fake stuff use andriod

I had a Desire HD before my 4S, and didn't like the lack of refinement of some aspects of the OS (HTC are probably the best in this regard), and hated the ridiculously slow performance. CM7 felt too barebones as a whole, and the phone wasn't particularly reliable.

For the most part, the iPhone just works. Not saying that it is perfect, but the software is properly optimised, it's reliable and stable, better built...I'd happily say that the iPhone, for me, is better in every aspect.

Android is great, however it still doesn't feel like a finished product. My HTC Hero really struggled after updating to 2.0 iirc - I know I could have used custom roms to speeds things up but I'd rather not.

I own a 4S and to be honest I'll most likely always stick with having an iPhone as long as I have a mac because I love the integration between the two, plus devs tend to favour working on iPhone apps before Android.

However, I have used the Galaxy Nexus and think it's a lovely device. Vanilla Android is amazing and cannot be compared to devices with manufacturer skins over it eg HTC Sense.

I originally tried an original Samsung Galaxy which was absolutely terrible, this was quickly swapped for an iPhone 3GS.

Once I got bored of that, I was convinced to try a HTC Hero. I mostly liked it to start with, but started to find it a bit sluggish, so I jumped at the chance of a Desire when they came out.

Turns out, I hated that - I found it quite unreliable and buggy, but stuck with it for ages, before finally giving Android one last chance with the Galaxy S2.

I hated that, too - the phone was flimsy, the battery wouldn't last a day, the OS was buggy, I just couldn't get on with it.

So I finally gave up on Android and went for an iPhone 4S on release day. I've never been happier with a phone.

I've had an iPhone of every variant from the original to the 4S. Cracking phone and a brilliant OS but the integration with the whole Apple universe it's what sells it. Now with iCloud and DropBox syncing across my iPhone, iPad and Macs I doubt anything could come close.

I had for a brief period a Google Nexus One but couldn't get on with Android at all. I find it's good for tinkering but there's a reason I used iOS and OS X at home and that's because I don't want to tinker. I want to actually get stuff done with my devices.

This

My GF has a SGSII and every time I use it some small thing annoys me, I also hear here complain about it a lot, I keep telling her she should have got an iPhone :p

The main draw for me is the App Store. The Android Market is just utter ****, full of half-finished rubbish and the odd keylogger. I don't have that problems with the App Store, just about all of the apps are of decent quality.

As well as that, i've built up a bit of a library of apps and I don't want to lose them by moving to another phone OS.

As others have said, it's the Apple ecosystem that is the unparalleled element and I still don't think Android / Google will ever be able to provide the sort of experience you can have with Airplay via an Apple TV, iTunes Match, iCloud app/data syncing, Siri (which will only get better), apps such as GarageBand, PhotoStream, etc etc.

I've used a few Android devices, along with an Omnia 7 Windows Phone, and always end up thinking they are fine... just not iPhones.

I had iphone 4, moved from that to LG 3d (bit of a gimmick but was cool at the time) got bored went to the SGS2 which i found an amazing phone but then found a great deal for ipad 3 and iphone 4s which i could refuse.

1st thought was to sell iphone 4s but when i used it i quikcly remembered why these phones are so damn good. Great OS, great app store, easy to use and just brilliant all round.

This thread is pretty funny. I wholeheartedly agree with all the points put forward by everyone, but I just know some Google/Android fanboys I know will just not accept any of it :D

From what I've seen of ICS, it's hardly an upgrade from Gingerbread apart from a nicer GUI and was not an improvement by leaps and bounds everyone expected it to be to contend with iOS. I'd much rather get a Windows Phone over Android if iOS wasn't a possibility.

Then there is app development. So far this year I've made an app for iOS, WP7 and Android and I can confidently say the Android SDK leaves a lot to be desire and really puts it to shame.

If Android wasn't owned by Google I'd think we would see a much bigger correlation with Windows users owning a WP, Linux users owning an Android phone, and Mac users owning an iPhone. As it stands the integration of some services that are provided on Android give it the slight edge in this regard and also they are generally the cheapest devices out of all 3.

I used a Galaxy S2 for a month or so (alongside my iPhone 4S) and I didn't enjoy it at all, on the handset side the battery was rubbish (people complain about iPhone battery but the S2 was dreadful).

On the OS side I find Android very fragmented, with OS updates not standard for all devices and having to deal with all the crappy software such as Samsung Kies.

I know where I am with iTunes, iPhone and iPad. I don't like OS X but I love iOS and I am happy to wait for Apple's offerings instead of jailbreaking/Android as Apple usually get things right first time, hence "it just works".
