Hi all, possible switcher here looking to find out what fits my households needs best and would appreciate your input on something (well probably a lot in the course of the next month or so before I decide).

If I were to have two Macs in the house, with photo's on one PC or a network drive etc. Could both PCs (err...Macs I mean!) manage, catalogue/tag a shared photo collection?

I just learned in the Windows forum that Vista will let you 'tag' a file and those 'tags (names, places, events etc)' will be imbedded in the file...so either PC can search based on them etc.

Would iPhoto/Apperture do the same?

Aperture could do that to the nth degree.. it was made to sort photo libraries.

iPhoto is the same, except it's slimmed down and doesn't really give you the advanced editing tools for the images as Aperture does.

If you're looking to just add a casual tag here or there, then use iPhoto, otherwise Aperture is the king really.
