iPhoto Question

I don't like the way iPhoto organises the photos within it's own directory, I always have mine dated on folder with a short description of photos - makes finding photo easier - don't need to go into iphoto's original data older to seek for photos when I want to look for it.

Any chance I can make iphotos "update" new photos when new photos are uploaded into specific folders say pictures/my pictures/ ?
