iPhoto rebuilding thumbnail cache

Lo all,

Our iPhoto Library at work appears to be borked.

When ever I open it, it automatically starts to re-build the thumbnail cache. I've done the whole 'rebuild library' thing which took about 3 hours but even then, after a re-start, it did exactly the same thing.

There's no way of stopping it and it's starting to become a real pain. I've Googled it as much as possible but nothing seems to be coming up. There's lots of sites talking about iPhoto giving you the option to rebuild the cache, but nothing about what to do when it automatically does it every time you open the damned thing.

Anyone had this before?

I can see I'm going to have to get all of the photos out of it and re-import them manually which is going to be the biggest ball-ache ever.

Cheers for any suggestions.

I am not sure how to fix your problem, but will the export / reimport be that bad? You can do a Select All from the event screen and do an export to a new folder, which while it may take a little while can be done in a few button presses. Then just create a new library and import that folder.

...or am I missing something here?!

78GB of photos, if the events/tags were lost I would be in serious trouble (although we obviously have it all backed up).

The Library is on a network so we can all access it from our own computers. The weird thing is, I tried it on my Boss' computer and it worked perfectly, went to do it on my machine and it started re-building the cache again.

Might be a Tiger problem, it's just a bit weird and getting weirder... I don't want to start messing with everything if it works on the Boss' computer.
