The most recent update to the iplayer desktop app rendered HD programs unwatchable on my laptop. They play, but the image stutters constantly.
It was working perfectly on the version prior to that one (and ONLY that version I might add), and any other 720p content plays without issue, as does most 1080p content.
I can't remember the version number, I just remember the notes mentioned a performance increase of ~20% - which is the only reason I allowed the update in the first place. I can't access my laptop atm to check the version number either
Does anyone know of a place to download previous versions of the iplayer desktop, or preferably some iplayer download solution that doesn't involve the iplayer desktop or adobe air in any way? I have been looking but I haven't found any app that actually works with the iplayer service.
The HD streams on the iplayer website work fine, but my wifi isn't too reliable. Plus, the download online > play offline approach is generally better for anything longer than a few minutes.
Disclaimer : I live in the UK and I pay my TV license just like everyone else.
