Hi,

I have a machine using the Supermicro X9SCM-F motherboard with integrated IPMI 2.0.

Before installing CentOS on this machine I could use IPMI to connect to the server. Now having installed CentOS and setting the two network ports to fixed IP addresses, I cannot connect to a KVM session on this machine although it detects the IPMI server on the IP address set in the BIOS for IPMI and can monitor voltage, temps etc.

How do I config the BIOS and the Linux environment so the IPMI KVM will work correctly ?.

Any advice, links to guides etc most welcome.

Thanks
RB

IMPI is completely independent of the OS so putting Linux on shouldn't make a difference.

2 questions though.

1) Does the IMPI have a dedicated NIC?
2) Is there a chance you've assigned the same IP to the OS as IMPI?

ok, it seems to be working now.

I noticed there was a dedicated network port but the port shield did not have that location punched out which is why I missed it.

I also noticed the two normal lan ports had the same ip address in CentOS which I then corrected. I also set the IPMI port to Dynamic and update config and it now seems to be working fine.

Thanks for the response, backed up what I was doing to troubleshoot.
