Ipod 5th gen :(

Hi all,

Well yesterday i went to use my iPod i was searching through my playlists and went to play a song and it crashed! i couldn’t do anything so i went to the apple website and managed to shut it off!

i get an iPod icon with a sad face and an ! it just clicks away and turns off, at one point i’ve managed to get it to say connect to iTunes to restore even then it lasted 1min and iTunes didn't notice it and it said very low battery i’ve had it on charge for around 2 hours & it’s extremely hot.

& my warranty has expired ages ago


Any ideas anyone?

Clicking? Does it sound like the hard drive has failed?

quite possible yeah it just seeks and doesn't do anything i've tried Disk Mode (via the apple site) but even when i get to that stage itunes does nothing

& when charging also it boots up and clicks away shuts down and keeps doing this contantly

I've managed once to get it to restore but the HDD just shuts off and confuses itunes, so ive given up :/ time to get a new ipod

I had this on my iPod 20GB Photo; gave it a sharp bang on a notepad on my desk and it sorted it. The hard disk connector was loose - apparently it's a common problem with my model.

My 5th Gen has started to crash more over these few months, I'd be gutted if it breaks! I like the look of the new classics, but I might get a 32gb iPhone if they come out.

Out of warrenty also! so maybe some DIY coming
