iPod and Hyundai Coupe

Figured some folks in here might know the answer to this.

I'm looking to get a Hyundai Coupe SIII. It has an ipod connector. When I was test driving, I took an opportunity to see if my iPhone 3GS would work with it.

Nope.

Got a message "This accessory is not compatible with this device" - or something like that on the iPhone. So I probably need an iPod, but which one - and do i need to get an older one.

If anyone could help - maybe you or a friend has one and knows a model that works.

Cheers

The iPod adaptor in my own car does this and I can still play music through the car stereo using it, but can't charge the iPods battery.

My parents are getting the i10 which has an AUX input. They where looking at the i20 which had an iPod connector and an AUX input.

Surely could you not just get a 3.5mm cable to connect the iPhone to the AUX input (assuming it has one)? It won't charge the iPhone, but it should allow music to play through it.

Hmmm, well i suppose it did not help that the sales guy didn't know how to use an iPod with that stereo - but after a few minutes of trying and getting no-where i decided to leave it and ask around.

Not an answer to your question but I can use my iPhone on my Hyundai i30 without problems.

Maybe the i30 has a newer player, or newer firmware? The car I was looking at was march 07, so before the 3GS.

I did notice when hitting "source" on the cd player that there was an AUX, I cannot however recall seing a 3.5mm input (maybe i did not see it or it is exposed behind it). This would have course be a nice alternative - I'll see if it has one. Thanks.
