Well, I'm off to a great start owning a ipod touch. Installed iTunes, connected the ipod and went to download the latest update. Took ages. When it went to update the ipod it suddenly stopped with the error code 1604 - it couldnt update the ipod. It then said that i had to restore it. Clicked the restore button..same error, just worded a little differently.

Any ideas? :(

I imagine you've read that, but incase you haven't it's worth a quick squint :)

Upon reading a few issues on "Error 1604" Google I found this:

The 1604 error is related to the connection between your computer and the iPhone.

I tried to restore mine on my laptop and it gave me that error but it worked fine on my PC.

So I am afraid the 1604 seems to be down to if your computer wants to have a dodgy USB port today or not..

Try another machine, if you can

Thanks for the quick replies. I uninstalled itunes then put it back on. Connected the ipod and it's managed to restore this time. Is 1.1.2 the latest version as that is what seems to be installed at the moment?

Fingers crossed must have been a dodgy install of itunes.

1.1.2 is the latest, there is no update.

It worked because you reconnected, nothing to do with iTunes.

It downloaded and tried to istall the latest update first time, that's when it went wrong.I'd reconnected about 4 times trying to sort it previously. Only when i reinstalled itunes did it work. Oh well, happy days. Now to put some stuff on it.
