Yeah so my 30gb Video iPod broke proper today been having bad problems with it but lived with them, such as:

Short Battery (3 hours max on Music, should be around 14 hours)
Never charges through USB, tried multiple PC and cables.

Today it was doing this:

Hard Drive making clicking noises
VERY hot at the back of the iPod
Taking about 30 secs to load songs up, and usually just crashes
Plus the above issues.

Yeah and now it's just dead basically hardly works at all.

Anyway Apple are coming to collect it, anybody else had there iPod replaced, are they fast? and do you get a brand new iPod back?

It's just over 1 month old also so I do have warranty, currently using my year and a bit old iPod Mini for now, does the job!

My G4 B&W broke back in the day. They sent me a brand new one about 7 days after I shipped the broken one off in the box they provided me. I think you've not much to worry about. :)

I sent my old mini back through the shop that I bought it. It had to be sent for testing which proved it was broken and I got a brand new one after about 2 weeks.

apple will definately replace it, my brother's was replaced twice, ups is the courier i think and they're fast :) have hope it will be back soon

im a bit worried now because my iPod seems to be doing a few of these problems you have mentioned :( it takes ages to first start and i have to hold the reset buttons, and regarding charging with usb it does charge but if the ipod is moved it will stop and disconnect its quite annoying

The most worrying problem I had was putting the iPod in diagnostic mode and looking at the HDD temp, 41c and max temp it can take was 50c according to the iPod menu.

My new iPod came yesterday, it's so much better slightly enhanced model, 5g still but the click wheel feels better and it plays videos properly now, my old one used to "glow" on videos when there were black colours!
