Hi all,

I've been using a couple of these FM transmitters in the car lately with an Ipod Shuffle but have just acquired an Ipod Video in black - to go with my black ford focus. Can anybody recommend a specific FM transmitter/dock type affair - any photos in use would be awesome too.

I had a Griffin RoadTrip a while back, it worked fairly well but the cigarette lighter socket on my Astra is a bit rubbish so it didn't hold itself straight very well - was fine in my old man's Honda and my brothers Saxo. I think the Gadget show had a roundup of these recently and liked one that was shaped to fit in a cup holder - I didn't see it so can't give you any more details.

I went with an iPod compatible head unit in the end, which is a much nicer solution for me - although my brother who inherited the RoadTrip still uses it I think.

Have a look at the Moosik Ipod FM transmitter - unlike the "run of the mill" transmitters, this actually holds your Ipod in its cradle which then plugs directly into the "fag" lighter.

It also has 5 pre-sets, backlit (great in the dark) and will charge your ipod while its docked. Because it uses the proper connection and not the headphone socket the sound quality is much better then others Ive used.

i have a belkin one, black, fits all inc nano iirc, bought it and used it once - tbh i prefer cd's in the car anyway.

email, in trust, if your intersted as im looking rid of it, brand new condition

I have a Kensington Pico for my balck nano. Cost about £20 and clips onto the bottom. Unlike other FM transmitters it does not connect to the 12v supply and uses the ipod battery. I havent found this to be a problem as the nano has great battery life anyway. Its small and compact and because theres no wires to worry about, you can tuck it anywhere which is very convenient. Not sure whether it would be a valid solution for a full size ipod as might look a little silly due to its tiny size.

On a seperate note, the transmission is independent of ipod volume, so I can turn the volume on my nano right down saving on battery power....

Can post pics if youre interested.
