Ipod Integration

Are we after iPod integration or iPhone integration?

If it is actually iPod (and iPhone if you aren't bothered about it routing calls OR charging the phone), then IMO there is nothing better suited to a stock headunit in most cars than the Harmon Kardon Drive and Play

What about those radio adaptor things? Just clips onto your iPod and tune it into an used frequency on the radio. That's the most cost effective way I think, I remember my friend had it at college, quality was alright too.

edit: the above isn't intergration by any means.

Are they of good quality?

I beleive the car has a multi disc input, but means tricking the headunit to thinking the ipod is a multi changer. Which is why its so expensive. So FM seems to be the way forward.

As good as any other "proper" iPod integration, had one in the MINI Cooper S before we got a facelifted one, worked fine IMO.

I've got no photos of it installed, but it could be connected in three ways. Either by 3.5mm AUX if the HU has one, by direct connection (by means of T-junction wire) into the aerial at the back of the HU, or by FM transmission (the worst quality of thhe three).

All that ends up being visible (if you are good with hiding wiring) is a display the size of a typical parrot phone car kit, and a knob that mimics the click wheel on a normal iPod, giving you control of the iPod.

Thanks for that, pretty sure I will go this route. Connecting via T terminal seems the best option. Though my sister won't notice the sound difference between wireless FM or not.

Bringing this back up again, as I thought she just had an ipod. Turns out she has a Iphone, how difficult is it to get Iphone integration, I.E hands free?
