My iPod won't charge through my PC, it used to, but now it connects but won't charge.

I tried swapping USB ports, restoring the iPod, a different cable...etc

But nope it just won't charge through my PC or my Laptop, works fine through plug charger though.

I know it's not a huge deal but I used to charge it at College through the PC's (never any plug sockets spare for the plug charger)

Any ideas?

Hmm strange. Not heard that one before. Perhaps you should try the firmware wipe with the iPod app if you can.

Should probably be in the Windows forum or perhaps the Sound forum.

Do you use the same cable in the PC and laptop. Is this different to the one you use with the mains adapter?

I had a similar problem, then I charged my ipod with the mains adaptor, then the next time I connected it to my pc it worked fine  No idea why though

Does the PC recognise the IPOD?
Yep, can play music off it, manage it ....etc

It just won't charge when it's plugged in, and since the light on my iPod stays on when it's plugged in, it's a battery drainer :(

You might need to do a power reset via the connectors. Try getting a paperclip and connecting (while ipod is on) the far right (ipod facing you) and 4th gold pin from right, make sure not to short any other pins though, but this does a complete power cut to the ipod, resetting most if it charging features. Ill get pics later so you dont fubar your ipod.
