hey peeps,

what is the best way for me to get line out from my ipod 30g? i've seen things called pocketdocks which seem the best bet but what i the general consensus? its to connect the ipod to my eleccy drumkit so nice quality sound is a must ;)

muchos gracias and all that...

Just get a 3.5mm cable to whatever your drum kit input is.

I use this method for plugging mine into speakers etc etc, does the trick anyway.

if you take the output from a dock rather than the headphone socket, you'll bypass some of the amplification and get line level output, which, in theory, will be better quality. It's also a shade neater if you can just leave the dock plugged in all the time.

Of course to make it worthwhile get a semi decent cable between the dock and whatever.

Of course it's all mp3 so sound quality simply isn't going to be as good as CD, unless you're freakish enough to rip all your CDs in some lossless format..

yeah i know that the line out quality will be better i'm saying i would like a solution (similar to pocketdock) where you can output directly (in cable form or whatever) to line out without using the dock... see?

You will not get a line level output from an iPod any other way other than a dock connection, the headphone socket is not and never will give you that, you could use a 3.5mm mini-jack cable that goes down to whatever you need to plug it into your drum kit, whether that is 1/4" jacks, XLR's etc. and turn up the volume on the iPod and hope it will go loud enough (or if your drum kit has a gain control on the inputs use that too).
