iPod Music Doesn't Show Up

My iPod was pluged in to my computer when the computer crashed and locked up. So I reset the ipod and while it was reseting unpluged it. Now none of my songs/videos or playlists show up. Im pretty sure they are still there because it says i have used 20 of the 30gb available. My contacts and pictures are still there. When I plug it in, it does show up in itunes but no music/vids apear (still says 20gb used tho...)

Is there anyway I can get the songs to reapear with out having to restore the ipod and re add all that music as I've only just got it and that would be such a pain!

Has the itunesdb file just become corrupt or something?

ok... the same thing happened again

I had it plugged in, computer crashed, I reset the ipod... songs appear to have gone.... How *should* I unplug my ipod if my computer crashes... with my old 3G one reseting it was fine.

Maybe you should look into why your computer crashes?

All your USB drivers in? Maybe the hard drives failing on the ipod? Try a differnt USB slot on your PC? Try it in a differnt PC to try and find out whether your PC or ipod is at fault? Tried mailing Apple to see what they think?

Something similar happened on my Iriver H10 to the point i couldnt transfer anything. Its now confirmed as faulty on an RMA and im awaiting a replacement.

Thanks for the replies. The laptop is pretty old so its not the crashing i mind, I'll send apple an email and see what they say.
