Got my ipod nano this morning, all appeared fine - put it into windows got itunes etc.. - crashed during an attempted updated and wont copy songs saying error code -50 - so restart - now the software update crashed again and the ipod is just flashing the apple logo no menu nothing - windows doesnt even detect it :(

before you send it back. HP do a flash drive formatter.

Its called the HP USB disk Storage format tool.

Download it

Connect your iPod up if it detects it, format it.

Then do a restore and an upgrade. All should be good.

If not send it back

tried that Krono only detects my external USB HDD - not the iPod

just emailed apple using there form thing, what a load of tosh - i knew i should have jusst got another iriver - itunes is fantasticly crap software aswell.

It was engraved to so will take even longer!

Have you checked in "Disk Management" on windows? To see if that recognizes it.

It does sound buggered. But my Nano did do the same and eventually I got it working again

Stupid thing, i really needed this for my trip tomorrow aswell!!

Isnt there a reset combination you could use. there was for the larger ipods. I dont know what it is, but you used hold, and a sequence of menu buttons.

Menu + Middle.

You could try putting it into disk mode then formatting it.

Middle + Menu til it restarts, then hold middle + play/pause

Anything i do it just flashes back to the Apple logo and doesnt stop - wont do anyhting but show that logo - wont even turn off :/
