I'd like to use Winamp to manage my music in my new Nano. Can I bypass iTunes initial setup and use Winamp straight away.

Any info on what to do would be great :)

Yes, I never used iTunes at all with my previous iPod classic. My 4G Nano should be arriving today, and iTunes won't be used again, as ml_ipod works fine with the 4G.

The default Winamp plugin doesn't work with the 4G Nano yet though, if that's what you've got.

Sorry for being thick but I'm struggling a bit.

I've got a few albums I've converted to MP3. I've downloaded the covers and put them in the albm directory.

How do I upload these to the Nano with the covers visable in Cover Flow?

No idea. I'm a staunch anti ipod/itunes protester.

Whether you use itunes, winamp, songbird, it'll be in their respective documentation/faqs

If you put them in the albums directory as folder.jpg then iTunes should find them for itself and transfer them over at the same time.

However, having said that I've found it to be much better practice to embed the jpg into the MP3 tag, using some tagging software.
