Hi All

I have an Apple iPod Nano - when I have it plugged into the PC and it is charging, the sound quality on the headphones is dire.

I can hear noise and buzzing etc, When data is sent to the iPod its worse, as if the data transmission is cross talking over the sound.

I tried different headphones it does the same, and also tested the set that came with the iPod in another device and they are OK.

When I unplug it the noise is gone. Does anyone else have a Nano that exhibits this behaviour or is mine bust?

Thanks

My ipod 3g 20gig does this, its because its connected to the computer and its taking resources from the nano. So im taking a stab in the dark here, theres not enough ram (in the nano) for it to share resources to the computer and to play the audio...

i'd say it was interference from the power from the USB cable, it could be said to ba a problem with the nano, but I would have thought it was normal.

I took it back this afternoon.

The guy tested it with a Sennheiser Headphone and also got another Nano and tested that - mine was making this noise on the headphone and the other one was not.

He said mine was bust and as they didnt have any instock I had my cash back.

I'd say it's likely to be a ground loop issue or something, interference from the charging circuit maybe? My laptop does this through the headphone jack when the HDD is being accessed and it's on charge. It doesn't do it through the speakers, and it doesn't do it when it isn't on charge.

Piece of crap.
