Hi all,

My ipod wont mount with ipod updater in windows xp. I tried super fix to format to fat 32 but wouldnt as its a 40 gig 3rd gen. Then used fat32format.exe to by pass xp 32 gig fat 32 limit. The ipod still wont mount and is detected by windows as a unformated removable drive. I get the folder icon when i switch it on unless i switch it to disk mode. When the battery is charged it wont switch off will just keep reseting unless put into disk mode. I tried formating it to NTFS to see what would happen but it gets to 100% then says unable to format.

Any ideas appreciated.

thanks

Hi there,

I had something similar happen to my 2 month old nano a few weeks ago. When I turned it on a folder with an exclamation mark appeared and wouldn't go away and it couldn't be reset.

When the player was connected to the PC it was not recognised at all and it could not be mounted in the iPod Updater software.

After speaking with Apple, they sent me a box to sent my player back to them and, a few days later, I received a brand new player!

Hope you get your problem sorted out.

Ray.
