iPod programming

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows any good starting points for programming with an IPod. Ideally, I want to do this in VB6 but .NET is not out of the question.

Basically, I was wondering if it was possible to access info on the ipod such as a list of last played tracks, most played tracks etc etc....(basically stats)

I'm not sure.
There are plenty of programs out there that access ipod's and the info on them.
It's only the statistical info I want anyway. I'm not interested in ripping tracks off it.

apparently it stores playcount info in a database stored on the ipod itself (just googled this). various apps can manipulate this data to send your recently played tracks to lastfm so i guess you need to look at how that works and modify it for yourself.

Ah cool. That is pretty much what I wanted to do!
I had a feeling it'd already been done but it's a nice little project for myself.
