Looking for some advice here. Just bought a 2GB iPod Shuffle for the missus. Seemed to work ok at first, however after a few days it would appear that the data on the Shuffle has become corrupt (probably removed it from the dock when it was transferring data). I've tried the "restore to factory settings", but end up getting an "unknown" error 1418. A quick google on this seems to tell me that this could be terminal. There is some recovery software (iPod reset utility), but it's not compatable with Vista and will not install.

I can't seem to do much else with it. Has anyone come across this and have a solution, or do I need to take trip back to the shop to get it replaced ?

Get the latest iTunes version? Than try:
-Disable or Enable Disk Use on your iPod and then attempt to restore.
-Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and then attempt to restore.
-Try restoring it on another computer.

Get it swapped, they won't even question it if it's only been bought recently.

Thanks guys, tried those things already. Got it swapped on the way home from work tonight, no questions asked.
